“It would have been easy to pick a more commercial sounding track from the soon to be released Sentimental Dust album but Sunshine Mourning is a particular favourite of mine. Going solo and without management or a record deal I’m happy to be able to do what I want and not sacrifice my artistic values. This is me. The dark vibe with shades of light. The guitar melodies. The crashing drums. The energy. The anger. The vulnerability in the vocals. This was written in my car during lockdown in late 2020 working in my retrained role as a fire alarm engineer, still seething at how things had panned out, but for this particular song I was reflecting on various past experiences. Many of them from school days were traumatic. I was angry with myself and upset that those experiences had been festering away even some 25-30 years later. I felt hopeless and beaten yet again… or so I thought. That evening I went home and recorded the bulk of what you hear now. I do hope you enjoy it, that you are inspired by it and if anyone has some sort of battle they’re fighting, I sincerely hope that it won’t beat you inside.” Sunshine Mourning was Produced, Mixed & Mastered by Marios Loizou.
